Finding Plans Available To You

Why are we providing this information to you?

Our goal at Dreiling Insurance is to Educate and Inform you.  We want you to know what plans are available to you, and what costs savings you can find.  Once you understand what goes on behind the Curtain of Insurance, you will be better informed and know how to tell if the options placed before you have your best interest in mind.

The first thing to know is where are you going to explore to getting a Wellness Plan for your Business.  Then you should know what Insurance Carriers and which Plans are available to you.  What will determine that is your Group Size, Employment Based Zip Code, Employee Census and their Zip Codes of residence, and how long you have been in business.

You will also want to know if you Qualify for a Group Plan, this will be found under the Insurance Carriers Group Underwriting Requirements.  You will need to provide Payroll if you have only so many Employees, if you have under 10 employees, most plans will require you to provide a Quarterly Wage Report (In California, it is the DE9C Report).  You may need a few other documents, so it may be helpful to have a Insurance Broker help you apply for Group Coverage.  The last large item to explore is whether you want to go with one Carrier, Multiple Carriers or if you would prefer to go through an exchange like Covered Ca Shop or Cal Choice.  All of these options are available through Dreiling Insurance.

Types of Marketplace plans

Depending on how many plans are offered in your area, you may find plans of all or any of these types at each metal level – Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum.

Some examples of plan types you’ll find in the Marketplace:

  • Exclusive Provider Organization (EPO): A managed care plan where services are covered only if you use doctors, specialists, or hospitals in the plan’s network (except in an emergency).
  • Health Maintenance Organization (HMO): A type of health insurance plan that usually limits coverage to care from doctors who work for or contract with the HMO. It generally won't cover out-of-network care except in an emergency. An HMO may require you to live or work in its service area to be eligible for coverage. HMOs often provide integrated care and focus on prevention and wellness.
  • Point of Service (POS): A type of plan where you pay less if you use doctors, hospitals, and other health care providers that belong to the plan’s network. POS plans require you to get a referral from your primary care doctor in order to see a specialist.
  • Preferred Provider Organization (PPO): A type of health plan where you pay less if you use providers in the plan’s network. You can use doctors, hospitals, and providers outside of the network without a referral for an additional cost.

Here is a list of the Major Carriers available in California;

  • Aetna, plans offered are predominately PPO,  HMO Plans.  Aetna offers huge networks plans that are not generally cheap, as well as more tailored HMO networks with very low rates.
  • Anthem Blue Cross, plans offered predominately are PPO and HMO Plans.  Anthem is just an A level insurance Company, the rates are fair, the coverage is fair and Anthem operates just about everywhere.
  • Blue Shield of CA, plans offered are predominately PPO and HMO Plans, they may be the premier Insurance Carrier for California due to their excellent service to you the Insured as well as your servicing Broker.
  • Cal Choice an Exchange Based Offering for Small Group, plans offered are PPO, HMO, HSP and EPO Plans.  Cal Choice can allow you to offer more Plans and Multiple Insurance Carrier options than any other platform we can possibly think of.  They literally make it easy to start a comprehensive benefits plan at the stroke of a pen.
  • Covered California an Exchange called Shop for Businesses, plans offered are PPO, HMO, HSP and EPO Plans.  The great thing about going through shop is for employers that are worried about wiping out the APTC Tax Credits for the Families of the Employees.  Shop allows you to offer coverage, and for the family members that qualify, they can still receive Tax Credits for their individual coverage.
  • Health Net of California, plans offered are PPO, HMO, HSP and EPO Plans.  Health Net is an enormous company, they have very diverse plans that offer reasonable rates, and they try to make things simple.
  • Kaiser Permanente, plans offered are primarily HMO plans, but they do offer PPO plans as well.  Kaiser is probably the most easily used HMO plan.  They also manufacture their own Generic Drugs to the highest standards, making their Generic Drug Prices very affordable.  We experience very high reviews with the Silver HMO and Gold HMO Plans.
  • Oscar, plans offered are EPO's, Oscar is a newer company backed by Berkshire Hathaway and Google.  They offer extremely competitive pricing and reliable service.  They're a Technology Driven Carrier, and their Site is very easy to navigate.
  • Sharp, plans offered are HMO's.  Sharp is more focused in specific regions
  • United Health Care, Plans offered are PPO, HMO, HSP and EPO, they have more plans and choices than any single Carrier, the rates are incredibly hard to beat across all 50 states and they offer Nation Wide Coverage.

Running your own Quote, or Requesting us to run one for you;

Running a quote is made fairly easy here, but we must admit, with so many options, reviewing your quotes may be challenging without someone very familiar with the Plans available to you.  At this site, we provided you the information to be able to manage this on your own, but we do suggest you reach out for help.  As there are things that just can't be known without years of experience.  If you would like to have us review your quote, please let us know, we are happy to help.

Now for Running your own quote;

  • You will need to gather a census for your company, this would be the Names, DOB's and Zip Codes of your Employees.  It is best to have Dependents as well, but you don't absolutely need it to get an idea of what plans would be best for you.
  • Then you will also want to have a tally of who is full time and who is part time, basically who is going to be eligible.
  • You will want to include your company name, the carriers will request your quote if you apply, so it should have your Business Name and Zip Code
  • You will also want your SIC Code, this is mandatory if you are quoting Ancillary, or Supplementary Coverage.  This is the Business Sector that your Company exists in, or the type of business you are like MFG, or Service etc.
  • You can create an account, with this you can save your quotes and re-run them at anytime.
  • Now, you want to Run your Open Quotes.  This will give you an option of all the plans available to you.
  • Once you have your quotes, you will be able to apply directly by clicking apply now.
  • If you prefer filing out Paper Forms we have those resources for you.

Again we are here to help, we want you to be informed, and if you need any assistance...  Please remember we are a Carrier Direct Broker, so we provide you the Actual Rates, there is no way to reduce them for Small Group Plans and Individual.  For Large Group there are Negotiations, and we can Negotiate a Lower rate, but even then, we are Negotiating Carrier Direct Rates to be Below their Flat Rate.
